Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership, Inc.

FIVE STEPS

Beginning in 2010, the Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership has five steps on
THE JOURNEY TO THE MALCOLM BALDRIGE NATIONAL QUALITY AWARD
FOR PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE.

The five steps are :

  1. 1.) CQIA Innovation Prize
  2. 2.) CQIA Organizational Profile Award
  3. 3.) CQIA Categories and Items
  4. 4.) Connecticut Breakthrough Quality Award
  5. 5.) Connecticut Leadership Quality Award

Open enrollment – Step 2 CQIA Organizational Profile.
Notification of award results will be 60 days after submitting an application.

March 15, 2010 Deadline for Intent to Apply form with application fee.

Required for organizations intending to apply for Step 3 CQIA Categories and Items, Step 4 Connecticut Breakthrough Quality Award and Step 5 Connecticut Leadership Quality Award. If no Intent to Apply form is received with the appropriate application fee by March 15, 2010, CQIA Partnership will cancel its 2010 professional Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence examiner training.
April 13, 2010 Deadline for clarification of CQIA Innovation Prize application. No Intent to Apply form is required for Step 1, the
15th Annual CQIA Innovation Prize.
April 20, 2010 Postmarked deadline date for 15th Annual CQIA Innovation Prize applications.
May 6, 2010 CQIA deadline date for CQIA examiners to return rankings of 2010 CQIA Innovation Prize applications.
May 14, 2010 Tentative date for CQIA examiners' consensus meeting for CQIA Innovation Prize at Basement Systems Inc. in Seymour, Connecticut from 9 AM to 11 AM.
May 27 and June 2, 2010 Possible dates for CQIA professional Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence examiner training. CQIA Partnership must have received at least one CQIA Intent to Apply form with application fee for Step 3, 4 or 5 by March 15, 2010 for CQIA examiner Baldrige training to take place. On June 2, CQIA examiners receive completed applications for Steps 3, 4 and 5.
May 29, 2010 Deadline for CQIA level 3, 4, and 5 applications: Level 3 CQIA Categories and Items, Level 4 Connecticut Breakthrough Quality Award and Level 5 Connecticut Leadership Quality Award.
June 2010 CQIA examiners determine date for consensus meeting of for applications from Levels 3, 4, and 5.
July 2010 Examiner Site visits to applicant organizations for 2010 Step 3 CQIA Categories and Items; Step 4 Connecticut Breakthrough Quality Award and Step 5 Connecticut Leadership Quality Award.
July 6, 2010 Confidential notification to applicant winners of 2010 Step 1 CQIA Innovation Prize
August 15, 2010 Written CQIA examiner feedback and confidential notification to applicant winners of 2010 Step 3 CQIA Categories and Items; Step 4 Connecticut Breakthrough Quality Award and Step 5 Connecticut Leadership Quality Award.
October 29, 2010 Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership Twenty Third Annual Conference on Quality and Innovation from 9 AM to 4 PM at Water’s Edge Resort in Westbrook, Connecticut. Winners announced to media. Speakers include current Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence recipient, gold or platinum CQIA Innovation Prize winners, and possible recipients of CQIA’s Steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 applications. All Step 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 recipient attendees will be recognized and professionally photographed.

Five Steps to the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is a direct response to requests made by people attending the CQIA Twenty Second Annual Conference on Quality and Innovation held on October 23, 2009.
